Questions we get on WhatsApp
Fares, bookings, vehicles, permits and the road. Anything else: WhatsApp or call +91 78729 29029.
Fares and payment
Is the fare I see the fare I pay?
Yes. The fare shown is for the route, one way, plus 5% GST. Tolls and the driver's expenses are included. Parking at monuments, entry fees and permit fees are not.
How do I pay?
Online when you book, through PhonePe, by UPI, card or net banking. Pay the full fare, or 20% now and the rest to your driver at the end of the trip, by cash or UPI.
Are fares the same in both directions?
Yes. Where two directions differ, the higher fare applies to both.
How does a round trip work?
The car is yours on the day you go out and the day you come back. If you want the car on the days in between, ask for a tour package.
Booking and changes
How far ahead should I book?
A week is comfortable. For North Sikkim, Nathu La and festival dates, two weeks, because permits take time and cars fill up. Same-day bookings are often possible from Gangtok; message us.
What if I cancel?
You get a full refund if you cancel within 1 hour of booking, or before a driver is assigned. The refund policy has the rest.
What if a road closes?
We tell you as soon as we know, with the alternative. A change caused by a closure never costs you a change fee.
The vehicle and the driver
Which vehicle should I choose?
A hatchback or sedan for two to four people with light luggage on main roads. An SUV for hill roads, four to six people or more luggage; it is the standard choice for Sikkim. A Tata Sumo or similar, or a 12-seat Tempo Traveller, for groups. For North Sikkim, an SUV is required.
Will the driver speak English?
Our drivers speak Nepali and Hindi, and most speak working English. Tell us if you need a driver with strong English and we will match you.
Can I ask the driver to stop for photos?
Yes. That is the point of the drive. The driver will also suggest stops you would not know to ask for.
Is the driver's stay included on multi-day trips?
Yes. The driver's stay and meals are included in package prices.
Permits and documents
Which places need a permit?
Tsomgo, Nathu La, Zuluk, North Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur, among others. The Permits page lists them. We arrange them when you book.
What documents do I need?
For Indian nationals, a government photo ID (Aadhaar, voter ID, passport or driving licence) and two passport photos. For foreign nationals, passport and visa, and two photos. We tell you exactly what to send when you book.
Can foreign nationals visit Nathu La?
No. Foreign nationals can visit Tsomgo Lake with a permit, but not Nathu La. Rules change, so we confirm the current position when you book.
Safety and comfort
Are the roads safe?
Hill roads are slow and narrow, and our drivers drive them every week. Vehicles are checked daily, carry documents and a first-aid kit, and drive at the speed the road allows, which is sometimes 20 km an hour. We do not drive at night on hill roads unless it is unavoidable.
What about altitude?
Tsomgo is at about 3,750 m and Nathu La higher. Drink water, go slowly, and tell the driver if anyone feels unwell; he knows where to stop and turn back.
