Places to visit on a Gangtok tour
Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir and Nathula
A high-altitude lake east of Gangtok, with Baba Mandir and the Nathula border pass further up. A permit is needed.
Lachung and Yumthang Valley
The most common add-on: a night in Lachung, then Yumthang Valley. Needs a protected area permit and an SUV.
Pelling
Kanchenjunga views and Pemayangtse Monastery, about 117 km from Gangtok.
Darjeeling
Tiger Hill, the toy train and tea estates, on the way back to Bagdogra or NJP.
